Tour: Hill Tribe Motorcycle Tour
Description: This 3 day 2 night tour covers about 150 km a day and is guided by an Akha NGO worker. He is from a village in the jungle and has much experience exploring N. Thailand on motorcycle. The first day is on dirt road about 60% of the time and goes through the jungle and visits many Lahu, Lisaw, Akha, Karen and Hmong villages where you are welcome to stop. Part of the tour runs along the border of Burma where you can see Wa villages. The views are incredible on clear days. The tour stops at a village to try locally grown tea and at a waterfalls for a bite to eat. You spend the night in a hill tribe village with a family and you you have the opportunity to try food from the jungle and traditional cooking. The second day covers approximately 160 km and is about 80% on dirt. The views are stunning and we pass many villages and come back along the MaeKok river and stop at Mae Salong, a Chinese village where tea is grown for export, a hotsprings and an elephant village. That second night is also spent in an Akha village as a homestay. The third day takes you south of Chiang Rai to Wawi and Doi Chang - incredible views and a nice waterfalls. The third day covers approximately 150 km and is about 70% on dirt.
