Tour: One Day Blast
Description: This long one day loop takes you about 60 km from Chiang Rai to the west along the Mae Kok River. The first 20 km section is on paved back roads with little traffic. We stop briefly at two Wats that have beautiful caves and Buddhist images set limestone cliffs. Along the way we pass some small villages where you can get water and see rice farms. Eventually we reach the Elephant Village where we stop for lunch. Here the pavement ends and the next 5 km is on dirt roads going through tribal villages along the Mae Kok River. There are a few up and downhills. Eventually we cross a small suspension bridge and having reached the halfway point, start back to Chiang Rai on the opposite side of the river. After 2 km of dirt road we arrive at a hotspring where we soak and have a bite to eat. The final 22 km are on paved roads. If you are feeling up for it, we leave the bikes at a meditation center and explore a cave and climb high up a hill to enjoy fantastic views. To enjoy this tour you must be in good shape.
