Doi Luang National Park
Description: Doi Luang is one of three National Parks in Chiang Rai. There are numerous waterfalls, caves, wildlife and there are many kinds of forest in the area such as mixed forest, rain forest, and deciduous forest. Animals include barking deer, wild boar, deer, hare, palm civet, civet cat, flying squirrel, monkey, tiger and many kinds of birds.

Directions: Doi Luang National Park Office is located between Payao and Chiang Rai off the Asia Highway, route 1. From Chiang Rai go south on the superhighway and look for signs about 15 km south of Phan.
Highlights: Poo Kaeng Waterfall is a 9 level limestone waterfall, blessed with many caves, stalactites and stalagmites. It has water flowing all year.
Cham Pa Thong Waterfall is a towering waterfall and as water sprays over this steep waterfall, it resembles the head and tusk of an elephant.
Pha Gled Naga Waterfall is only accessible by walking. The rocks around it reflect the sunlight and resemble the glittering scales of a naga.
Wang Kaew Waterfall is a spectacular limestone waterfall, with over 102 tiers. It is higher than Pu Kaeng Waterfall. The cascade is stunning and its water flows all year.
Tham Nang Phaya Pang Din Fai is a cave located on the way to Wang Kaew Waterfall. The cave is not especially deep and the cave wall is decorated with stalactites. You have to climb a small hill before reaching the cave.
